The ticket out the door quizzes that you will see from time to time on your students grade are formative assessments that I give along the way to the chapter test.  It just helps me to see who knows a certain concept and who still needs help.  The students are allowed to take the quiz until they pass it.  They must take the initiative, however, and see me when they are ready. 

Parents, if you see a zero on your students science grade, and it is a new assignment (entered that day), please give me 24 hours before you become concerned about it!  I am probably just in the process of entering that classes grades.  Sometimes I work on them during my plan time or when the students are working on an assignment in class and I may have to stop in the middle of a class.  It can take me a few hours to enter one class.  I do appreciate your concern about your students grade, but 9 times out of 10 it is just that I have not finished entering the grades!  This will just save you from unnecessary worry!
